Did you see it? Step aside Northern Europe, Pembrokeshire has taken over! Reported as one of the most intense displays of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in over 20 years. Scientists say the display was triggered by an X-class solar flare that erupted on January 18th 2026. Some Geological experts have noted that the event may have been a “cannibal storm”, occurring when a faster solar eruption overtakes and “consumes” a slower one, amplifying its geometric impact. Pembrokeshire people have taken to socials in their hundreds sharing incredible images of the mesmerising show. Wow.
